IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS

ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE
In principle, the competition is open to any team of non-professionals, in any field of science in the broad sense. If you have any doubt on your eligibility to participate, please check the detailed Policy Guidelines of « Science Me! » here 0.5Mb.
For the 2022 edition, 12 to 15 will be hosted. If the number of applicants is larger than affordable, the steering committee and the local organising committee will select the most interesting projects; nomitated and rejected teams will be informed within the shortest delay.
Likewise, professional teams (i.e. employees of an official institution or private company receiving a salary for doing professional science shows) will be hosted only if time slots are still available; professional teams will compete at the expense of a handicap on their final score (strict and transparent rules will be given in advance on the extent of the handicap).

SAFETY ISSUES
The public loves spectacular experiments (e.g. explosions, sparks, fireworks, flames, liquid nitrogen, high voltages, etc). Whatsoever, the steering committee and the local organising committee are convinced that avoiding experiments which convey a wrong/dangerous image of our sciences are probably the most opportune ways of communicating science.
Because of the specific configuration of the theater in which the event will take place (low ceiling with fabric; public close to the stage), the safety issues will be a major concern for the organisers. Please feel free to contact us before you plan your show, to guarantee that the experiments you intend to present will be allowed on stage.

DECLARATION OF AGREEMENT (photos/videos)
As far as possible, pictures and movies recorded during the event will be published in print products, social media and on the webpages of the University of Geneva and Science Me! only if an explicit consent has been given by the participants. The declaration of agreement can be either downloaded below, or filled on-site.

LODGING
The 2022 edition of « Science Me! » is organised jointly with the 2022 edition of « ShowScience », and the organisers have secured a limited number of rooms in the « Cité Universitaire of the University of Geneva ». In principle but without guarantee, participation to the « Science Me! » event includes 2 free nights of lodging for up to two participants per team (not available for teams living in or around Geneva), for the teams having no financial support from their institution.
Because of the post-pandemic reopening of travel activities, there is a high pressure on hotel booking in Geneva; extra rooms for additional participants of the joint « Science Me! » and « ShowScience » events must be booked at their own expense.

TRAVEL
As far as possible, a travel support will be available for the teams having no financial support from their institution; requests sent to ScienceMe@unige.ch will be examined on a first-come first-serve basis.
If some teams can be supported by their institution, then the organising committee will be able to allot a larger financial support to the teams which deserve financial support.
The local organising committee will do its best to make your journey as smart and convenient as possible, within the limits of the budget allotted for the event.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
As far as possible, foreign teams using special material or chemicals which cannot be easily transported from their institution to Hanover can request special support to ScienceMe@unige.ch (e.g. large/heavy devices, liquid nitrogen, airplane- or customs-regulated chemicals, supermagnets, etc.).

SOCIAL EVENT
A visit to the CERN is planned for participants attending both « Science Me! » and « ShowScience ».
